Deadline of the competition

The deadline of the competition has been extended to 15.09.2021.
Decision: Applicants will be informed about the decision during the last week of September.
The finalist(s) poems will be featured in the Gordian Magazine’s October issue.

Theme of the competition

To celebrate the international literature day on the 8th of September, UN-aligned will be holding a poetry competition open to everyone.

The goal of this competition is to creatively portray the values which UN-aligned’s Manifesto campaigns for. The competition aims to highlight the importance of the creation of a different kind of a United Nations as well as the promotion of human rights, animal welfare and environmental protection.

Winners and prizes

The winners will be selected by our literary editor, winner of the international ‘Il Leone D’Oro’ award, Alex Liberto. Learn more about Alex’s achievements as a poet and writer.

The Gordian Magazine’s editors may choose other finalists for honourable mentions and award them with certificates and extra attention.

First: 100 euros + certificate
Second: A poetry book

Finalists will also be invited for an interview with our team in order to promote and publicise their works. Your interview may be published on our website (un-aligned.org), our monthly magazine (the Gordian), podcast (the Gordian in Audio) and newsletter, which are followed by hundreds of similar-minded members across 25 countries.

Note that taxes, if any, are the sole responsibility of the Prize Winner.

Rules of the competition

Your poems must be original.
Each applicant may submit up to 2 poems.
Submitted poems must be in English.
Your entries must be fitting with the theme of the competition (UN-aligned manifesto).
There are no length requirements for your poems.

Eligibility & how to enter

Are you a member of UN-aligned and interested in poetry? If you answered ‘yes’ to both of these questions, you are eligible to enter – just follow these steps. If you are not a member, you can easily create a free account and become a member right away.

Step 1

Select your poem and make sure it fits with the theme of the competition. Every candidate may submit up to 2 poems.

Download and read through the rules of the poetry competition.

Step 3

Login to your user dashboard and fill in the entry form online, ensuring the completion of all the fields and accepting the conditions contained in the rules of the competition.

Step 4

Upload and submit your poem(s) (no more than two), on the competition website. Please write a short biography about yourself as well.

Step 5

Make sure that you receive a confirmation email acknowledging receipt of your application.

Step 6

Wait until the last week of September when we announce the results. Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
